MEMOIRS (12)

MY VISON AND DREAM FOR EAST ASIA

I will never forget the vision God put in my heart at the airport at Hyderabad in January 1985 thirty three and a half years ago at the times of writing, that Jesus Christ is Lord of all the earth. The Word of God proclaims it, and it is wonderful when it comes as a Rhema Word to your heart.

As my Missions Ministry has been predominantly in Asia, and the difficulty of one’s mind taking in every nation of the world, my dream and vision relates very much to East Asia  and the many ministries I have  for years connected with and  continue  to relate  and pray for too right up until this very day.

Many Australians look with fear at China because of it’s massive growth and  economic develop, and now its encroachment into the South China Sea, and the associated islands. This does not concern me much, but I do look at the fast growing church in that nation, statistics would suggest the church there will be greater than the U.S.A. soon, and therefore the largest Christian Church in the world. I took a train out of Hong Kong one day, and went to a nearby Economic Zone in China, just to simply be able to say I have entered China.

I am praying that the Church in China which has so grown because of prayer and persecution will not only have a vision of “Back to Jerusalem” but will give serious thought to its three “daughters” Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan and believe that the “River of revival” will flow into these Islands and onto the rest of East Asia.

Again you will have read of my experience in Northern Thailand as I looked into Myanmar and the burden that came for  that nation plus the burden that dramatically increased on my return home for the three Indo China nations of Laos, Cambodia & Vietnam. I see by  faith and  in the Spirit a river beginning to flow from China, and touching these four nations so crippled for many hundreds of years by Buddhism and Communistic type governments. There are regular reports of increased blessing in these for nations, may it continue.

I am in regular contact with Ministries in all these four nations, and even in Laos and Vietnam which is officially closed to Missions there is an increasing tide of blessing.

Right in the north of Thailand in Chiang Mei I have a spiritual son, who is building a great work for God, (in the North of Thailand almost 1% are Christian, only half % in the rest of the nation, I see the river flowing, and God using His servants  (again some dear friends I pray daily for) in Bangkok, and onto Pattaya & Phuket and into the South where there are growing churches (despite the additional problem of Muslims in this area). If the once Buddhist nation of South Korea which is now at least 50% Christian can see revival, so can Thailand, and millions of blind Thai eyes are going to be opened to Jesus as the Son of God and Saviour of mankind.

I see the river flowing into Malaysia, another dear brother I pray for daily lives in Sitiawan in the North  is building a great work for God. There has been tremendous answers to prayer in this nation. One political party has held sway since independence were defeated after much concentrated prayer,(over a number of years including 24 hour prayer meetings) and the positive signs for the Church and the nation are  exciting and encouraging. I see the river flowing down to Kuala Lumpur/Petayling Jaya where many dear friends are serving the Lord and believing for revival. Then onto Seramban and Melaka where I again have some very dear friends who are building great churches for the Lord. Then onto Singapore (the Antioch of Asia) our second home, there are a number of brothers I am praying for daily who are longing to plunge into the river.

Then the river is flowing and increasing in the nation of Indonesia, and many Javanese & Sumatrans and Chinese and every other ethnic group are coming to Christ. Indonesia may have the largest Muslim population within its borders, but the nation’s constitution gives perfect liberty to every Christian group and the signs are everywhere of the blessing and increase of the Lord upon the nation.

Then onto the largest Island nation in the world AUSTRALIA,it was prophesied by Smith Wigglesworth that we would be the last nation to see revival. It isn’t apparent yet, but I see it in the Spirit, the river of revival will flow across our great nation. Australia is virtually the uttermost parts of the world from Jerusalem, but it will happen, I trust I will be alive to see it and be a part of it. If that is not in the Lord’s plan then I will every day until my dying breath be praying and declaring  this last day outpouring that will cause millions of Australians to bow the knee and declare that Jesus Christ is Lord Amen

DO NOT EVER REPLACE THE WORD OF GOD, IT IS UNIQUE

As there is something very special and unique about the Word of God, we are encouraged to spend quality time daily reading, studying and meditating on and in the Word. My regular readers are already saying is John still on about the Word of God, YES I AMwhy you may ask? The Apostle Paul writing to young Timothy expresses it this way in 2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The very breath of God dwells in every word, every chapter, every book of the Bible, and like a dying man we should continually seek to see the Word of God like spiritual oxygen to the Believer, THAT WE CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THE WORD OF GOD.

A business man has the goal of making a profit in his line of work, and every Believer mustdesire to know spiritual profit (growth/ favour/blessing/victory/power) as he regularly comes to God’s Banqueting table to feast on the very finest food God has made available to us.

As well as the importance of a Mentor to speak into our life, we must let the Word of God CORRECT US AND DISCIPLINE US.  We must see the Word of God as His ROADMAP to direct us in the way we should go.

SOME G.P.S. WILL LEAD YOU ASTRAY, BUT THE BIBLE WILL ALWAYS TAKE YOU TO WHERE GOD WANTS YOU TO GO

Paul goes on and says if we live in to Word of God  it will lead us to maturity and to being fully equipped to do  whatever is needed in our personal spiritual life and our ministry.

One translation indicates that the Word of God will help expose error, and of course will keep you from error as well.

All that I have said not only relates to us and our personal need to spend time in the Word of God, but I want to speak to Preachers.

MAKE SURE YOUR PREACHING IS FULL OF THE WORD OF GOD

I visited a prominent fast growing Charismatic church recently, and there was a total of two verse of Scripture quoted in a 40 minute sermon, I was extremely disappointed, as it is not man’s ideas or philosophies that will change a person’s life,

ONLY THE  WORD CAN CHANGE A PERSON”S LIFE

It is not only the divine sperma  that causes spiritual conception in a person’s life to cause Him to come to Christ and be born again, but EVERY DAY personally we need to divine sperma  (the Rhema Word) to come into our spirit, every time a Preacher stands to speak he should be the channel to bring God’s Rhema Word to God’s people amen.

I am reminded of the excellent statement:

METHODS CHANGE BUT THE MESSAGE MUST NEVER CHANGE

I agree totally with this statement, so Preachers, in being “contemporary preach the Word, let your sermons be full of the Word of God.

Contemporary churches have sure changed their methods when it comes to the music area, again I agree wholeheartedly, but when it comes to words in the songs,

LET THE WORDS BE CHRISTOCENTRIC

Church is all about meeting with the Lord, and we “enter His    gates with thanks giving and into His courts with praise, it is not about you and me, and then we go into the Holy of Holies and bow down and worship the Lord.

I am sounding negative but do not apologise, the more we know and understand the word of God, the more we will see Jesus high and lifted up, we will not need the world’s methods in our church service, but from the very first song the spotlight will be on Jesus amen

IS STRUCTURE THAT IMPORTANT WHEN IT COMES TO PRAYER?

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO BEGIN OUR DAILY QUIET TIME CORRECTLY?

I believe it is completely important especially when the Psalmist says in Psalm 66:18 NKJV If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear, I like the words in the PASSION translation  Yet if I had closed my eyes to my sin, the Lord would have closed His ears to my prayer.

WE MUST CLEAR THE DECKS OF ANY UNCONFESSED SIN

My problem is I cannot always remember all my sins since last time I prayed, so I happily make use of King David’s words in Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV  Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties: and see if there is any wicked way bin me, and lead me in the way everlasting.  I also pray often pray Psalm 51: 10-12 NKJV  Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me, restore unto me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me by your generous spirit.

I usually then go through the list of 9 ways in which we sin. (do you know what they are?)
I AM SO GLAD JESUS IS ALWAYS TRUE TO HIS NAME, HIS NATURE AND PROMISES

I then claim and receive my forgiveness, because God said it, and I believe it, and that Jesus took all my sins upon Himself and carried them all away.

If you are a Mentor, you cannot teach the topic once but must walk with the new Believer until prayer becomes a lifestyle.

Shall we look at the other 7 INGREDIENTS TO DAILY PRAYER? over the next few days? Telle me.

God bless you.

WE CAN’T MAKE IT WITHOUT THE WORD

My heart continues to be stirred by the Holy Spirit regarding the importance of the Word of God in a person’s life. It begins, prior to our conversion when the Word of God is shared with us, either through someone witnessing to us, or by the preaching of the Word, the Holy Spirit takes that Word and plants it as a seed (sperma) into the womb of our heart, conception takes place and we are born again through that Word that lives and abides for ever 1 Peter 1:23 NKJV  having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.

THAT IS JUST THE START OF THE ROLE OF THE WORD OF GOD IN A BELIEVER’S LIFE.

With Biblical Discipleship, a new Believer is strongly encouraged to daily read and study and meditate on the Word of God, without discipleship some may read the Bible out of duty, and others simply suffer with spiritual anorexia nervosa and have no real appetite at all for the Word of God. God’s plan is that we learn to recognise the essential importance of the place of the Word of God in our spiritual life and development.

Three times in Psalm 119 (verses 25,107 & 154) the Psalmist/s declares QUICKEN (KJV)  REVIVE (NKJV) me according to your Word. Because of our sinful nature (the bias towards sin) we need to learn to live the LIFE OF REPENTANCE, and let the Word of God work in us. The words revive and quicken have the picture of bringing something back to full life and vigor. I saw in my mind’s eye a “defibulator” and the two paddles being placed on a person’s body, and the shock quickening and reviving the “unwell” person. I think it is significant that the Psalmist/s mention three times in one Psalm the importance of the Word of God to revive and quicken us.

TO ME THIS MUST BE THE BELIEVER’S LIFESTYLE.

We need a revelation not only that “This Book will keep me from sin, but sin will keep me  from this Book” but just as daily we need to have an good diet of food and drink, we must have a good balanced diet of the Word if God, to help us “have a change of mind” (repentant) and continually receive the repairing ministry of the Word of God to shape us into the image of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

MAY THE WORD OF GOD DOMINATE EVERY ASPECT OF OUR LIVES, WITHOUT IT WE WILL NEVER BE THE PERSON GOD ORDAINED US TO BE

A PRAYER REQUEST

Only last Sunday did I receive a specific date to teach a Bible School class in Indonesia, and it is only just over three weeks away. We had decided that my  Ministry travelling days were over, but after much prayer and consideration I have accepted this particular invitation, but I will need all the prayer support I can get please.

I am teaching for twenty three class hours in four and a half days,  five hours Monday through Thursday, and three hours on Friday morning, The dates are 3-7 September. In the past there has been over 300 students in the class.

These are my specific requests, and I would be happy for you to start praying today right through until we arrive back home in Australia on Friday 14th September.

ANOINTING

I want the teaching to be mightily empowered by the Holy Spirit, I will also make a couple of altar calls during the week, may the Lord do a deep work in the lives of the students

TRAVELLING MERCIES.

We ask for the Lord’s protection and safety in all our travels.

HEALTH AND STRENGTH.

Physically this teaching will be physically challenging, so please pray for added strength and vitality.

We will return via Singapore where we will have  4+days R&R, and catching up with friends.

I thank you in advance for your continued prayer support.

A FRESH MISSIONS UPDATE

Forty two plus years ago I was exposed to Asia for the first time (Singapore & Malaysia) it was a life changing experience, and yet it was just the start of a journey that continues to rule my life). Some eight and a half years later in India God gave what to me was a Rhema Word that Jesus Christ shall be Lord of India and all the nations of the earth. This truth has gripped my heart. Then only three and a half years later in Northern Thailand God gave me an Intercessory prayer burden for Myanmar, Laos Cambodia & Vietnam, that is still on my life today. I have written the above as an introduction to tell you that in less than forty eights hours, I have had (what I believe) has been a supernatural experience in that I have been in communication with National and Missionary Leaders from China, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar.   They have all told of revival and blessing in these nations, and I want to share some of the remarkable things that God is doing in these nations.

I begin with China as this Communist nation has seen and is experiencing an awesome spiritual revival. I asked the leader “has materialism impacted the church there?” His response was not so much but the extreme teaching of the so called “Prosperity Gospel” has. Also the extreme “cheap grace” teaching that has particularly come out of a mega church in Singapore has cause much heartache and division. Even the Three Self church (official government church) has denounced it as a heresy. But in spite of these and other teachings the Church is moving forward Praise the Lord. I asked about China’s three “daughters” Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, Chinese Christian Workers move freely through these islands and the Church in Taiwan especially has seen tremendous growth and blessing. The Christian population of Hong Kong is now 14%.

I wanted to know what is happening in the three Indo China nations, The Christian & Missionary Alliance had done tremendous work in these three nations prior to their fall to Communism. Laos is still a very “closed” nation, but the CMA churches and underground Charismatic churches are seeing much growth and blessing praise the Lord. I have seen the awesome growth of the Church in Vietnam having been privileged to visit 32 times working with the underground church. The CMA church was the only Protestant Church the Communists recognised when they took over the nation in 1975 (a great and growing church). Some Evangelical and Pentecostal Churches are now registered with the government, my Leader friend told me that the government is making it difficult at this time for the Churches, but still the Church grows under the good Hand of God.

Cambodia is the modern miracle I want to share with you today. Some may have read the book “Anointed for Burial” by Todd Burke which told of a brief revival  from late 1974 until Pol Pot took over the nation in April 1975, sadly most of those Christians were murdered by the regime. In the 1990’s I visited Phnom Penh for the first time and ministered in a small church there, as I chatted to the Leader, he told me an awesome story. The Church is now 2000+strong, there have been 500 baptisms this year. The next largest Church in the city is around 1000. They have a strong Discipleship program with little backsliding, which includes Deliverance ministry if required. Over 100 churches has been planted in the nation and another 90 church plants are in preparation. I was so blest as this Kmer Leader shared with me.

Some good things are happening in Myanmar, a Burmese Pastor told me personally that many people are being healed and set free from demonic powers.  Over ever nation there are demon powers that want to limit and restrict the Church of Jesus Christ, we must take our authority in Jesus Name and see them cast down.

After much prayer over a number of years in Malaysia there has been a change of government (the first since federation over 60 years ago,) major changes have happened already, and there are many more in the pipeline Praise the Lord.

The RIVER OF REVIVAL continues to flow, we must FAST AND PRAY MUCH FOR THAILAND, I am praying and believing for millions of Thais eyes to be opened that they will see Jesus in all His power and glory.

If you live in Australia in any of our state capital cities you will see many Chinese faces, the Leader from Hong Kong told me there are now at least one million mainland Chinese living here, what a mission field, then add all the other migrant nations here, Asia has come to us, what a challenge and responsibility we have to be obedient to  the Great Commission.

The late Ruth Heflin wrote a wonderful song I ask for the NATIONSas recorded below you remove the word nations and place the name of the nation you are burdened for, here we have written, I ask for Burma, I am asking for all the nations recorded in this blog that Jesus will be truly Lord of all these nations amen.

I trust you have found this update interesting and a blessing to you, I trust it will challenge you more and more for you to pray for that nation/s that the Lord has laid on your heart.
We ask for Burma, we call her by name,
We present her to the Father in Jesus’ name
We ask not for riches, we ask not for gain
We ask for Burma in Jesus’ name.
May she not be forsaken, may she not be ashamed
Oh, may she know Jesus on that great judgment day
May she not be found naked, oh, may she be clothed
When she stands before Jesus that day at the throne
We ask for the masses, for the millions of souls
Who are lost without Jesus outside of the fold
Lord, help us to see them with compassion like Yours
To reach out and lead them to the Good Shepherd’s door
We ask for the beggars, the blind and the lame
We ask for the lepers, You know them by name
We see them as masses, You see one by one
You see in each person a heart to be won
So we ask for Burma

SOME HOMEWORK FOR YOU

My heart has really been stirred recently about the place God’s Word should play in our lives. There is no doubt it must come as a strong revelation to God’s people, all the Discipleship teaching in the world will not make us fully respond until we have that 18 inch drop from head to heart, and the information truly becomes revelation.

I highlighted in “Search the Scriptures” 6 blog Psalm 119:161-162 NKJV My heart stands in awe of Your word. I rejoice at your Word as one who finds great spoil. The MESSAGE SAYS I’m ecstatic over what you say, like one who strikes it rich.   I then related the illustration of the two gold prospectors in Australia who discovered a piece of gold which weighed 98+ kgs. and now valued at A$3.8 million, the gold became known as the “Welcome Stranger” these gold prospectors were ecstatic and I am sure I would have been if it had been me. The Psalmist says we are to be (at least) as excited when we come to the Word of God as if we have found great treasure. May I ask you a personal question? Can you relate to what the Psalmist says,  How excited are you when you come to spend time in the Word of God? I must be honest and say it is often not my experience, yet here I am on this side of the Cross, knowing and experiencing the fruits of the New Covenant, in many ways I  have more to be thankful for than the Psalmist, so what is the answer?

Last Sunday I gave the church some homework to do for the next two weeks, that may help them and me to get more excited about the Word of God

1.PRAY

(a) For the Lord to help us

(b) For the Lord to give us a greater hunger for His Word

(c) To be more disciplined

2. NOT TO OPEN OUR BIBLES UNTIL WE HAD FIRST PREPARED OUR HEARTS  THROUGH PRAYER

3. SPEND AT LEAST TWO WEEKS MEDITATING IN PSALM 119, (The Psalm of the Word) looking CLOSELY AND MEDITATING on  every verse that mentions

Word, Law, Commandments, Statutes, Testimonies, Precepts, Truth, one of these WORDS

is mentioned constantly through the Psalm

3. ASK THE LORD “Turn the light on” and give you revelation.

4. LET THE HOLY SPIRIT MAKE EVERY VERSE A RHEMA WORD TO YOU.

5. DON’T RUSH, TAKE IT VERY SLOWLY CHEWING OVER EVERY WORD

6. LET US BELIEVE TOGETHER THE BIBLE IS GOING TO COME ALIVE AND WE WILL BE ECSTATIC

Then after two weeks choose a book to meditate in (over and above your daily reading)

For example The Book of Romans

Chapter one verse one on the first day, look at it in a couple of translations and again ask the Holy Spirit to “turn the light on”, then the next day verse 2.

Let us believe that like the Psalmist WE WILL REJOICE AT GOD’S WORD AS IF WE HAVE DISCOVERED GREAT TREAURE AMEN

WHY WE MUST LET THE WORD WORK IN US

I have recently written six blogs on “Searching the Scriptures”, and these last two Sundays have preached a mini series on the same topic at our local church. This truth has begun to grip my heart and somehow feel I will spending more time on this important topic, firstly for myself, and then for my readers.

As a teenager I was asked the question by my Pastor “Was I reading my Bible regularly” I at least was honest and said no, I don’t have “time”, but I do  pray!!! She immediately said, we need to do both. I didn’t really understand what she meant, and I think  it was quite some years before the truth really dawned on me.

Although there has never been such an availability of Bible translations and paraphrases, there has never been  a generation where there is such Biblical illiteracy amongst Christians. I am sure one reason is the lack of Biblical Discipleship, but even with Discipleship we live in a time of constant distractions, and speaking personally, a lack of discipline and laziness.

A favourite verse of mine is 1 Peter 1:23 NKJV having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,  The MESSAGE says Your new life is not like your old life. Your old birth came from mortal sperm; your new birth comes from God’s living Word. Just think: a life conceived by God himself!  The Greek word for seed is sperma  as the paraphrase indicates,

IT IS THE WORD OF GOD THAT CAUSES US TO BE BORN AGAIN

Common sense would suggest that now we are born again we need to continue to receive the Word of God into our lives. Peter tells us that spiritual conception took place when we received the Word, and just like a foetus in a mother’s womb, for nine months it is being fed so that a healthy baby can be born, and then must have a good diet to see it grows to maturity so we need to learn to daily feed on the bread of life so that we will grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes, so many Believers are suffering desperately with  SPIRITUAL ANOREXIA NERVOSA and are  simply starving and desperately in need of life support, seemingly one step away from completely backsliding!!!!!

As I was talking my daily walk this morning the Lord dropped a verse into my heart Psalm 119:130 NKJV The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

The AMPLIFIED expresses it this way The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.

The Apostle Peter tells us that when the Word of God enters, we were born again, here the Psalmist tells us, I believe after we have prepared our hearts in prayer, that each time,  we meditate on the Word of God, light and revelation comes, that is the spiritual food we need daily to grow to maturity, this simple  Believer needs all the help and understanding he can get.

I began to think about the word entrance, and realised that it is one thing to enter, it is another for the Word to take up its abode in us, that is why says in Colossians 3:16 NKJV Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.   The AMPLIFIED expresses it this way, Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts. The MESSAGE SAYS let the  Word of Christ—the Message—HAVE THE RUN OF THE HOUSE. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God.

One picture  (type) of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament is that of water, and just as a seed needs to be watered, we must let the Holy Spirit so water the Word as it comes as light to us that is causes the WORD TO HAVE THE RUN OF THE HOUSE, so we let the Word so work in us, that we grow and mature.

Paul also says we need to “water” the Word in us by singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace, and much thankfulness to the Lord for His goodness and blessings to us, and encouraging, exhorting, each other to keep hungering after God and His Word.

WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD?

The writer of the Book of Hebrews tells us in Hebrews 4:16 NKJV For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.     The AMPLIFIED  expresses it this way For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.  The MESSAGE gives us some more to think about. God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey.

The God who is living and powerful and lives in His Word, wants to work through His Word, to make us like Jesus. Let us co-operate with Him, and by His grace become the person He wants us to be Amen

A TESTIMONY

Today, our eldest son turned 50, I remember so clearly the day he was born, it was an awesome day, when I became a father for the first time. We know there is no training for parenting, it is all on the job learning. Every parent I am sure makes many mistakes as they rear their children, and we look back and thank God for His grace during these time.m

I turn 77 in a few weeks time, and when I was a child 77 was  a very “old” age and there is no doubt that people are living much longer today because of everything that is now available to us. I don’t know how many years I have before I am promoted to glory, or when Jesus breaks through the clouds to come for His Bride, but I want to declare today with King David I have been young, and now am old; yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor His descendants begging bread. Psalm 37:25 NKJV  The MESSAGE expresses it this way I once was young, now I’m a graybeard— not once have I seen an abandoned believer, or his kids roaming the streets. The AMPLIFIED SAYS The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].
In just a few weeks I will have been a born again believer for 67 years, and of course life has thrown up its challenges, but I can shout from the rooftops  that  Philippians 4:19 has ALWAYS  been my experience And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. and again like King David Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Psalm 23:6 This has been my experience too this very day.

Life has not been nor is meant to be a “bed of roses” or some constant picnic, and it sure hasn’t been, but I look back and thank God today for His blessing, and goodness on us.

TO HIM BE ALL THE GLORY

WHAT A PERFECT SALVATION WE HAVE.

Recently, I was blessed as I read Psalm 138:8 NKJV  The Lord will perfect that which concerns me The MESSAGE SAYS Finish what you started in me, God.

Here King David is declaring with confidence, that God’s work of Grace that had begun in His life would be perfected or completed.

We turn to the New Testament and find Paul makes two apparently conflicting statements, firstly in Colossians 2:10 NKJV And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.  then we read in Philippians 1:6 NKJV  Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Colossians 2:10 says we are complete , and Philippians says we will be complete.

BOTH THESE STATEMENTS ARE 100% CORRECT.

The Colossians verse is how God sees us now that is OUR POSITION IN CHRIST. and the Philippians verse is OUR GROWING EXPERIENCE IN CHRIST.

I noticed the English word complete in the Oxford Dictionary means “having all its parts entire and finished. That is why Peter says in 2 Peter 1:3 NKJV As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. The moment we were born again, God placed in us everything we need for life and Godliness.

This may not sound very Theological but I immediately thought of a flat pack you can purchase from say IKEA, all the parts are there, the instructions are there, (and a lovely picture of the completed article) and if we follow the instructions we will end up with a beautiful item, sometimes there are challenges as we seek to follow the instructions, sometimes we can’t even fully understand them, but the satisfaction we get when it all comes together, and after much stress and often struggle we see the completed article.

God has placed all the parts we need in us, we have the instructions in the Word of God, and if we obey the instructions and follow the directions we are guaranteed the blessing and power of God resting on us.

Jesus is the MASTER BUILDER and as we learn to walk in obedience to His Word, and live a life of continued surrender (Romans 12:1)  we can rejoice in the Lord knowing He is completing His work in us, and equally rejoice that God sees us now complete in Him  Hallelujah

SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES (6)

I have recently written 5 blogs on the topic “Search the Scriptures” and much of the material is going into a 2 week sermon series of the same name, I preached the first sermon yesterday, physically I was not feeling at all well, but the Lord helped me, and their was a good response to the message.

I will be encouraging my listeners next Sunday to spend sometime slowly going through Psalm 119, and looking at every reference, to God’s Word, God’s statutes, God’s laws, And meditating on the context of every mention. Psalm 119 is very much the PSALM OF THE WORD and the author/s say so much about the Word and the benefits that flow from “searching the Scriptures”. I am sure I could write a number of blogs from all the references, but I am simply going to highlight two statements, (verses) that I memorised as a Sunday School boy. Firstly. Psalm 119: 165 NKJV  Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble. The MESSAGE puts it this way : For those who love what you reveal, everything fits— no stumbling around in the dark for them.
We can have total faith in God’s Word, and can say “God says it, I believe it, that settles it” with that assurance, it gives us great peace, and there is no confusion, no misinterpretation, it is impossible to be stumbled or misunderstand God’s Word.  I memorised the verse in the KJV, and the word stumbled in the KJV is translated offended  and over the years, when I have been offended by something people have said or done, I have often felt, I needed to love the Word more, but “stumbled” is a better translation of the Hebrew word.

The second verse is Psalm 119:162 NKJV I rejoice at Your word, as one who finds great treasure. There is the true story of 2 gold prospectors who stumbled on a piece of gold that became known as the “Welcome Stranger” it weighed nearly 100 kilos. Do you think the guys, said “that is far too heavy, I will get a bad back, or a hernia, let’s just forget it and bury it”. I am sure their reaction was, “I don’t care if I get a bad back or a hernia, this gold is ours, we  are rich”, they were ecstatic about stumbling on this treasure.

MAY WE BE MORE EXCITED ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD, THAN DISCOVERING GOLD AMEN.
